TWD: Granola Grabbers + Homemade Granola

Photobucket

Michelle of Bad Girl Baking chose the Granola Grabbers on page 82. I was super excited that someone finally chose a cookie! There is such an amazing selection of cookie recipes in Baking From My Home To Yours!

I felt really good making these. I made homemade granola (which I had previously been too lazy to do - but never will be again!). I used this recipe from Orangette and it is truly fantastic.

As for the cookies, well, if you come here often you probably have already heard me whine about how much I dislike dried fruit. Though there are many options out there, and it would have been healthier, I completely ditched out on the dried fruits in these cookies.

What did I replace it with? Why, what else, chocolate of course! I added a good sized portion of chocolate chips and then M&M's and extra almonds and pecans for good measure.

These cookies are wonderful!! I actually only baked one sheet and then shaped and froze the rest of the dough so it is ready to pop in the oven at a moments notice - like this Thursday when Aidan comes home from his very first day of Kindergarten! (Wow and gulp!!) I'm sure they will be the perfect after-school snack!

I am sure we will make these cookies again (and again)! Thanks to Michelle for picking this!

Be sure to check out all the granola-y goodness from all the others spending Tuesdays with Dorie!

  23. You know, granola doesn't exactly qualify as health food anyways, so adding chocolate ups the antioxidant factor! See, instant health food!
