The cinnamon squares are a lightly flavored cinnamon cake, with a layer of chopped chocolate, cinnamon and sugar, all topped off with a luscious and creamy layer of good chocolate on top kept creamy by a little bit of butter so that it doesn't harden up too much.

This week's recipe for Cinnamon Squares was chosen by Tracey of Tracey's Culinary Adventures. This is one the recipe photos in the book that I have been really eyeing for a while - that heavenly swirl of chocolate on top was just calling my name. Thanks Tracey!!
I am very happy to report that we all loved this! The cinnamon flavor is just a hint in the cake itself and some more lovely spots of it in the filling, along with the chocolate. Nothing, in my opinion, overpowered anything else - it was all a lovely balance and something nice and different.
Make sure to check out how the rest of the Tuesdays with Dorie bakers fared this week for more cinnamon and chocolatey goodness!

This is THE photograph in the book that made me drool all over it! (This was in the days when I only bought books on sale, though :P ) I'm glad you liked it, though I'm not too well-versed in the flavor combination either. But seriously, how can you say no to such a lovely frosting, right? ;)
