Dorie's Virtual Surprise Birthday Party!

As Dorie is currently still on tour with her new book, several of us decided to be stealthy and put together a super secret project for today, October 24th, which just so happens to be Dorie’s birthday! We wanted to throw a little surprise birthday party for her while she is out on the road by putting together a party menu from each section of ‘Around My French Table’.  We hope you like what we’ve come up with and that it encourages you to pick up a copy of the book.
We would all just like to wish Dorie a very, very happy birthday and all our best wishes! I know we all appreciate the work, time, care, thought and heart that she puts in to her work. Thank you Dorie!

What a fabulous round up! I had so much fun with it and I'm glad we all got to do it together. My post went up a little late-we're on vacation and I wasn't sure what time my computer "thought" it was.

I love the way you did the round-up, Holly! Thanks for coming up with this great idea. Everything looks wonderful! Too bad we can't get together in person to eat all of it. =)

What a beautiful roundup, Holly.
And an impressive dinner party. We should do more of these, I kind of love the format. Happy Birthday, Dorie.

Now, Dorie's book doesn't include cocktails, but I've always thought the coolest thing to bring to a park potluck or a progressive dinner would be a few thermoses of a signature cocktail--perhaps everyone brings two servings of theirs and passes to the right...

I am totally and completely overwhelmed! And so very, very surprised! And deeply touched.

I'm sitting in my hotel room in Dallas and I have tears rolling down my cheeks. This is the loveliest birthday present from the loveliest people.

Thank you Holly and Laurie and everyone who cooked and baked and commented and sent me birthday wishes.

You've made my birthday incredibly sweet ... and now I'm going to go get the box of tissues!

Holly,
Fabulous! I love it! What fun to know the birthday girl has opened her present..... Joy. So glad you could pull this off and of course so deliciously. I agree with Di that it would be so amazing to all be together. I think we should drum up a trip to Dorie's beloved Paris together. Wouldn't that be amazing?
Thank you again so much.
